Reflective clothing mandatory?
Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is anywhere in the world where the wearing of specific reflective or hi-vis clothing is mandatated for cycling (either for adults or children)? This is not a question about the standard lighting/reflectivity requirements for the bicycle as a vehicle itself, but rather on the rider's attire. Cheers Gemm |

I've certainly never heard of such a thing, and I've been interested in night riding issues for a long time. I doubt such a law would exist, simply because reflective clothing is very rare. - Frank Krygowski |

Reflective clothing mandatory?

Also, reflective clothing mostly sucks except for those saftey vests with reflective tape. That's what I'm talking about - I was wondering if they have been made mandatory anywhere. If if anyone knows of any jurisdictions that have even attempted to make them mandatory. (helmets were pretty rare once too, but since they've been made mandatory here, they're not rare anymore...) In spain you can put the reflecting stuff ether on the bike or on your clothes. But I would not call this mandatory reflective clothing according to your definition. hth, Ingo. |
