Default You can tell it's spring when

the number of cluster riders increases. You might think that there would
not be much of an increase in a place like south Florida, but there
alway is, I had the morning off so I took off for a 24 mile ride. And
wow was I surprised by the increase in cycling traffic versus the last
time I was out. I didn't count how many riders I saw, I gave up on that
a long time ago, but still tend to notice the types of bikes I see. Lots
of hybrid comfort types, a few recumbents, a few road bikes, and of
course some mountain bikes.

I'm able to tell it's spring when the snow melts revealing the road
beneath! ;-)

This week I went back to my carpool in/ride home work commuting
regimen. I ride year round, but the 40 miles home is a bit too much
for me to enjoy in the winter. When I get back into this ride and
enjoy it as I have this week, it's spring in my book. I'm loving it!

yeah, well it's snowing here and we're expected to get about 10 inches.

It never seems to dawn on anyone that when the groundhog predicts an
early spring:

- that would mean getting springlike before or right after the vernal
equinox, as opposed to cold and snow until mid april or whatever
-that early spring doesn't necessarily mean really nice weather.

Go outside, get in a good mood, look up at the lowering,
slate-grey sky, and smile broadly and sincerely.

Next thing you know, you've got blue sky, bluebirds,
petunias, cherry blossoms, ice cream trucks, kids merrily
playing hopscotch on the sidewalks, and rainbows.

Works every time for me.

That, and my magic helmet cover[*].

cheers,
Tom
[*] I put it on, and it stops raining/snowing.
I take it off, and it rains/snows.

yes..if i go for a ride, it'll rain no matter the forecast. If i decide
against it because it looks crummy, the sky will clear.

and if i leave the room for 2 seconds during a sporting event (on tv)
someone will score the big goal/home run etc...
