Default Discovery fielding weak fall team........??

I have noticed that Discovery fall team has been weak. Eddy Merckx
mentioned that Popyvich had a weak season. This next season could be
very challenging for Discovery at least from a publicity perspective.
With the exception of George Hincapie.Discovery has no real stars to
speak of. This is one reason why I was very suprised to see that
Discovery did not hire a star sprinter. Now one can argue that Azevedo
or Beltran can be considered heros. But they have not had any major
victories to speak of.

Unless we see some miracle it is unforseeable that Popyvich will the
tdf in the near future. My only guess is that Discovery will
concentrate on the smaller tours like Tour of Romandy or Tour of
Switzerland or possibly the Giro. Hincapie will of course lead it's
classics team. But the real question is how will Discovery deliver PR
ROI for such a big budget.

Yeah, winning the Giro, the Tour, Grand Prix Ouest-France, 2nd
Paris-Roubaix - why if they can't win Paris-Tours they're nothing at
all!

Anyone want to guess the chance of Tyler Hamilton coming back to
Discovery after he's cleared of the blood doping charges?

And think of the advanatages - Lafferty could carry on as if nothing
had happened. He could just rename all of his posts with "Tyler"
instead of "Lance". t doesn't have a certain efficiency.

It's funny how so quickly I forgot Savoldelli's Giro victory. It will
be interesting to see how he does next year. From his results he could
be the team captain or 2nd Lt. On the otherhand this just goes to show
just how overwhelming the Lance pr machine is......
