Default Bottom Bracket

I assume the bottom bracket is so called because it is at the bottom of the
frame. I have seen recumbants where the chainwheel is pretty well above the
frame. Is it still called the bottom bracket, even though it is on top.

Yes.

Mine has two, but I have to resist using terminology like front and rear
when referring to them.
