I understood it to mean either (or both in the Schrodinger
sense) since mortals cannot know which.
I'm a Calvinist. We believe in pre-destination, which pretty much guarantees one's place in Heaven or Hell at birth; you can't get into Heaven by good deeds but a moral life demonstrates (probably) that you are one of the elect. --- AJ
