Winter sock recommendations?

Hi, looking for some advice on wool winter socks. Are the wool 'cycling
socks' effective, or should I go with a thicker hiking type sock? Any
opinion on 'woolistic' socks? TIA.

I use something called sealskinz. Keeps my feet warm and dry. I can stick my
feet into a creek and still be dry. There are some reviews on them at the
