It was strictly a leftist movement when it started out, not much different
than any other socialism. How a movement ends up is another story. Communism
was an even more "pure" form of socialism, but it ended up even worse. The
truth is that none of them work without the application of severe force.

It amuses me no end that others think Hitler and his group did not know what
they were doing and had mislabeled themselves. If he had ended his
aggression at the seizure of the Sudetenland he would today be regarded
higher than Bismarck and the Germans would be singing his praises for all
eternity.

By the way, here is the sequence: liberalism to socialism to communism to
.... a failed society! Thugs end up running everything. Citizens become
subjects. I prefer the old-fashioned oriental despotism myself of a
Nebuchadnezzar because it is more honest.
