Surely that would defeat the objective of credit card touring. After
all, a true credit card tourist would get an oik from the nearest LBS
to come out and make any necessary adjustments to his bike. One could
not get one's hands dirty.

Hactually we just replace the bike when the chain needs relubing. Slightly
more expensive but eliminates the need for maintenance.

An unusual case of Snopes getting it wrong. Must write and correct them.

The other case where Snoeps get it wrong is with the penguins on the
falklands. My brother was out there in 93 and can guarantee that they do
topple over backwards if approached correctly in a helicopter.

Approaching them correctly doesn't mean knocking them over with the
skids does it?

Reminds me of the old bumper sticker - "Helicopter Pilots do it
collectively on the landing."

Is it comedy day???? Here's another one.....

Bumpersticker on old "bondo" bucket: Love is GRAND, divorce is $300
GRAND... Obviously you can tell what side of the equation the car's
owner was on.....

Are you still using plain, general purpose credit cards like the common
folk?

Time to upgrade to FasterCard Titanium!

Check http://sheldonbrown.com/fastercard for details NOW!

Don't Wait!

Excellent. I *need* one of those as the perfect accompaniment to my
nanodrive Bianchi and increased power due to regular consumption of Product
W. Good grief man, a cyclist could do a round-the-world-trip with total ease
and incredible style thanks to you, Sheldon. The cycling world owes you an
enormous debt of gratitude!

All hail Sheldon!

Cheers, helen s

It doesn't arrive with a security guard and computer but you do get one
for business and one for pleasure. The Priority Pass card does not come
with it but you can apply for it and a whole range of similar cards at
no cost and with no qualification. The interest rates are a nonsense
because its a charge card not a credit card - you have to pay it off in
full at the end of each month so there is no interest. And it doesn't
cost $2,500 a year. Its about half that.

But then you do get a wide range of automatic flight and hotel upgrades,
free companion tickets, big flight discounts and second to none travel
insurance (including dangerous sports)thrown in that more than pays for
the price of the card.

And Snopes says "Hooper was probably attempting to add to the black
card's mystique by speaking with his tongue planted in his cheek,
however. Some of our readers who possess Centurion cards have reported
that their new plastic arrived with no hoopla at all, nary a security
guard nor a mini-computer."

But "such premium cards" includes credit cards as well. The "Britain's
NatWest came out with its version of an ebony premium charge card in
2002" might be wrong, that is a credit card (but maybe they did a charge
only version in 2002).
http://www.natwestblackcard.com/natw...tion/index.stm

(And of course charge card conditions do specify the interest rates
if payments are late. I've no idea whether they are significantly
different for premium cards though.)
