6/23/2010 4:49:03 PM Cincinnati Council has approved a new bicycle transportation plan for the city. It sets out a 15-year program to add 329 miles of bike lanes and other on-street improvements to make riding everywhere easier. Gary Wright is the President of Queen City Bike and helped to develop the plan. He says one of the goals is to double the number of people who use bicycles for everyday transportation during the next 5 years. Wright says that number could double again in the next 15 years. Council also approved an ordinance requiring drivers to maintain a 3-foot distance when passing bicyclists. In addition, driving or parking in a bike lane will be prohibited and drivers will need to exercise caution when opening their vehicle doors to avoid hitting people on bicycles. http://www.wmub.org/news/wmubnews_article.asp?ID=7932 |
