Wow, you don't sound like a very happy person. I'm sorry you are so
personally troubled. Not sure who you are or why you singled me out to
send this email to, but Capitol Forest is not a Wilderness Area.
Capitol Forest is a working forest that uses logging and other
renewable based resource revenue for our state schools, libraries and
roads, as well as recreation opportunities for mountain bikers,
hikers, trail runners, equestrians, ATV's, motorcycles and hunters.
Diversity of pubilc land management in this country provides an equal
opportuniy for all citizens interests to be met on public lands. It
sounds like you enjoy Wilderness Area recreation opportunites. There
are plenty of Wildernes Areas in Washington State to enjoy. I'd be
glad to help you find them.

Bicycles should not be allowed in any natural area. They are
inanimate objects and have no rights. There is also no right to
mountain bike. That was settled in federal court in 1994:

bikers to say that they don't have access to trails closed to bikes.
They have EXACTLY the same access as everyone else -- ON FOOT! Why
isn't that good enough for mountain bikers? They are all capable of
walking....

A favorite myth of mountain bikers is that mountain biking is no more
harmful to wildlife, people, and the environment than hiking, and
that science supports that view. Of course, it's not true. To settle
the matter once and for all, I read all of the research they cited,
and wrote a review of the research on mountain biking impacts (see
http://home.pacbell.net/mjvande/scb7). I found that of the seven
studies they cited, (1) all were written by mountain bikers, and (2)
in every case, the authors misinterpreted their own data, in order to
come to the conclusion that they favored. They also studiously
avoided mentioning another scientific study (Wisdom et al) which did
not favor mountain biking, and came to the opposite conclusions.

Those were all experimental studies. Two other studies (by White et
al and by Jeff Marion) used a survey design, which is inherently
incapable of answering that question (comparing hiking with mountain
biking). I only mention them because mountain bikers often cite them,
but scientifically, they are worthless.

Mountain biking accelerates erosion, creates V-shaped ruts, kills
small animals and plants on and next to the trail, drives wildlife
and other trail users out of the
area, and (worst of all) teaches kids that the rough treatment of
nature is okay (it's NOT!). What's good about THAT?

I went down to Capitol Forest today to pre-ride the race course. Does
anyone know how long the race will take? I was just wondering, as just
the
short loop (7 miles) around the Valley of Death took us about an hour
and 20
minutes. I think that will be around an hour when actually racing.

Capitol Forest is Awesome! The Super-D section of the race is going to
be
so much fun! I have an Enduro Expert that just flies down that trail.

OR, it's a sign that you make a very weak argument to support your agenda,
and we are growing weary of listening to you spew the same pack of lies year
after year.

I, for one, have shown that your agenda to close bike routes (if 100%
successful) would save only 0.004% of the habitat they pass through. Hardly
an effort in preservation that covers the cost. I doubt you could ever be
100% effective, since you have not been effective so far in getting anything
done so far.
