Newbie Again???
S_Wallis wrote: *Another time I was at the park getting ready to ride when a police officer saw me and started asking me about muni. He said he rode when he was a kid and asked to try it. He mounted on about the second try. It had been 20 years or so for him. He rode all the way around the large parking lot and rode through the big group of bike patrol trainees he was there with. You should have heard the reaction from all his buddies.* I would love to see a picture of a cop on a unicycle! -- paco - Proud owner of 2 opposable thumbs Sometimes crap works fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ paco's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/3715 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/27614 |

Newbie Again???
Welcome to the list and welcome back to the sport. Keep up with the riding and the belly will start to melt away (almost 6 months and over 3 inches so far). So, where are you moving to in BC? -- Mandell - Keen Beginner ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mandell's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/3769 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/27614 |

Newbie Again???
Hello Uni-vs-U When I left for college I left my 20" P.O.S. at home and only picked it up every now and again for the next 16 years. In my mind a unicycle was mostly a trick and a 20" was not any real means of transportation. Not to mention that awful seat! When I first picked up the 20" recently I could ride no problem, and after a couple of days I could even go backwards (the hardest skill I knew from before). Then the big brown truck came with my 29er. Wow, what a difference! The first time on that one I didn't make it 5 feet, control presented a whole new challenge with the larger tire and shorter cranks. But now I have something that I can really use to get from point A to point B, and for me that is the most fun. If I had known about a unicycle like this in college (did they exist circa 1987?) I would have ridden one up and down the Charles river on the way to school. As it was I was making do with a two-wheeler (Hey, what's the extra wheel for?) The main problem would have been knowing there was a DM to order a 28" from. Or you could have had Tom Miller build you just about anything, though his bigger wheels (usually 40") had hard rubber tires and were nothing like riding an air tire for distances. -- johnfoss - Now riding to work John Foss, the Uni-Cyclone "jfoss" at "unicycling.com" www.unicycling.com "Where's my kids?" -- Amy Drummond "Where's my unicycle?" -- Andy Cotter spoken one right after the other, mostly to themselves, at NAUCC 2003 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ johnfoss's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/832 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/27614 |
