And You Thought Phonak
was having a committee of scientists investigate the validity of the new
blood doping test. From ProCycling today: Of course, Phonak have also appointed a five-person group of scientific experts who have been given the task of evaluating the validity of the blood test which Hamilton and Perez have falled foul of. However, according to L'Equipe, Freuler seemed to be stepping back from head-on confrontation with the UCI and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by suggesting the group had been established "by Hamilton and his lawyers". http://www.procycling.com/news.aspx?ID=694 ---------------------------------------------------- If it comes down to getting in the Pro Tour or dropping Hamilton and Perez, it seems it may be time for Tyler to start looking for a site for the bike shop. -- How strange when an illusion dies, it's as though you've lost a child.--Judy Garland |

What great reporting. First of all, the IOC has nothing to do with the
Pro Tour, so why would Freuler back off from them? And second, if the UCI is going to retaliate for a rider contesting the validity of a new test just because they feel it gives false positive, then the real story here is how the UCI is using the Pro Tour to control the sport in malevolent ways. It's a good thing the Grand Tour organziers saw that the Pro Tour was nothing but an attempt by the UCI to grab power away from race organizers. Magilla B.
