Default All set for a weekend of no pain

Just put the final stuff in my panniers for a great ride this weekend. 3 of
us are going to ride across to Millaa Millaa then down the Palmerston
Highway and camp the night at Babinda on the Coast. Ride home will be
equally as tough with a 22kms climb back up to the Tablelands via the
Gillies Range. All up approx 230kms which includes some big hill climbs.
Strangley enough I have none of my usual "fears" of not being able to do it
as I have been working so hard on the bike I am convinced this one will be
great - finally I can see past the pain Let you know on Monday just how
well I can see past that pain LOL
Kathy.

I love the Gillies! I used to ride it every few weeks when living in
Cairns. A long, steady climb (not sure of the grade, but not hard)
with hotmix, good shoulders and wonderful views - the descent is as
good as the climb. The approach is good too, up the Mulgrave Valley.
No coffee anywhere, though! There's a water stop halfway up, on the
upside of the hill, a little rivulet with a pool - I didn't get a bug
from it, so I hope it's still safe!

What's the Palmerston ride like? I never got organised to do it, but
have thought to tack your circuit onto a work trip one time.

I hope the sun shines on you - hasn't been much of it lately, I hear,
so camping at Babinda could be a bit damp!
