Stop NY's Anti-Bicycling Bill (Racers and Tourists Take Note!)
I feel that this is a reaction to the Critical Mass rides ...
=v= FYI, it doesn't seem to be. The councilmember's statements don't mention those rides and even the tabloids that were most stridently anti-CM haven't made such a connection. Does this mean that someone biking in from Westchester or Long Island or New Jersey will need to register a bike in New York City? =v= No, but it could mean that the police could detain them, or any else from out of town: racers, tourists etc. So if you don't live in NYC but may visit there with your bike, you ought to let this councilwoman know that. =v= The aforementioned web form has a standard letter, but you can change it to add a few words about how you travel to NYC with your bike and don't want to be stopped by the police just for riding it: http://www.transalt.org/press/askta/041116bikebill.html _Jym_ |
