Default Any Rec's for a good stem-mounted bike computer?

I am looking for a new bike computer, one that actually mounts to the
stem. The one I have has a bracket that mounts *beside* the stem on the
handlebar. The computer then sits over the stem(or to be exact in front
of the stem face). This design, however, takes up a little space for
hand placement, or for slapping on a pair of aerobar clip-ons..
Any suggestions for a new computer?

I would recommend PowerTap, either:

or for a few extra pennies:

Take a look at the Shimano Flight Deck. I used one of these before I went to
the Polar 720i HRM. The Flight Deck is controlled by those little rubber
nipples on the inside of your shifters. Kind of a pain to set up but has a
lot of nice features. The other neat thing is that you never have to take
your hands off the hoods to operate the computer. It mounts like you
described over the stem.

For $10 you can get an attachment from Profile Designs which allows you to
attach your bike computer to your stem.

It's all very simple. Get a two sided strip of Velcro and a Velcro watch
band. Remove the wrist band from the polar unit and slip two sided Velcro
under the metal pins which formerly held the watch band. Then place the
Velcro watch band (found at any drug store) perpendicular through the two
sided Velcro. The watch band can now wrap around the stem and is easily
removed to download.

If you are the slightest bit handy with tools you can make a stem
doohickey to let you mount any computer to a stem. I used the leftover
steerer from a carbon fork, cut off about one inch length, cut this
down the middle length wise, drilled four holes into the half pipe,
Then I used two zip ties and a piece of double sided tape to attach to
stem and two zip ties to attach the computer to the half pipe. Just
dispose of the cancerous carbon bits from the drilling safely.
