Best web sites for historic (Euro-centric or Elite) cycling race results

I use Letour.com for Tour de France and the UCI is good for current
season results "only" without reports (though I have not looked lately)
and the best I have found all around is Cyclingnews.com with their only
weakness is the lack of consistent style and format. That slows me down
when I want to look up a result. If those are the best available then
fine, but I would like to hear of any other sites I may have
overlooked, especially for older results from the pre-web boom. It
seems that the sites are leaving up results as they travel through time
but I have not found any site (seriously, none) that took the resources
to post offline archived results from previous seasons. I understand
that as a rational business decision, but I still hope that someone
somewhere had a reason to go back to 1987 season (start of the UCI
points system as primary ranking for pros) or earlier.

If I have to consolidate the results myself I will do it with my own
database but I need to find the data nuggets (that's a technical term).
The real reason I want to go back that far is that I really would like
to track and analyze results from 1984. That is the season I consider
to be the start of the modern generation of cycling, due to the efforts
of Renault team and the Italians that applied cardio-vascular
conditining used by the Finish Olympic Cross-Country Ski teams.

Any and (virtually) all suggestions are welcomed.
