CR1 Pro - not top of the range, but nor is the rider.

whatnot) by my wife telling me that the bike had fallen from a truck

I assume this was on the way to the port. I have no idea what the
hewll they were doing with it to allow it to fall from a truck. The
bike's a write-off and was stated for insurance as worth four grand -
it's an Avanti Corsa carbonio from a few years back. Full Ultegra with
some tasty carbon bits, most notably my FSA carbon cranks worth god
knows how much, but I got them from probikekit for 7-8 hundred.
Freight company says insurance will be good as long as I get a quote
so I got that from Letour Cycles in Ringwood this arvo. They gave me a
quote for their Corsa Carbonio 3.0 which is, in their range, the
closest to what I got then. It goes for 4200 so I'm pretty confident
of getting a 4 grand payout in the next couple of weeks. Just hoping
the insurance company just cough up the cash and don't dick me about
as we're off to Europe in two weeks and I'd love to be shopping for a
bike while there rather than exchanging nasty emails from cafes and
airports.
Still numb... Pinot is helping...

Update:
Got a cheque for 4 grands yesterday. Turns out they destroyed it on
Tuesday and the boys there tried to cover it up. Management found out
Friday and couldn't give me a payout fast enough to make the issue go
away (the form we signed means we can't be crankier later). I'm very
happy to get a payout on a bike I wanted to replace and really
couldn't sell anyway. I really can't see I'd get anything else despite
their dodginess. Smiles all round.
Will wait a bit and buy something special a bit later. Was looking at
Cervelos yesterday. R3 looked very nice under Stuey at Paris-Roubaix
(and Fabian last year). I'm pretty confident that it will stand up to
my weight despite it being stupidly light and they have a lifetime
frame warranty anyhoo.

Yep I looked at a P3 yesterday in the shop - much mileage being made
out of Stuie's win by the owner. The frame is over $5300 list, so
you'll need to pad out your cheque a long way. The shop man countered
my concern about durability with: Lifetime warranty, ridden in the
Paris Roubaix on cobbles by Cancellara who is 85kg.

DongaThe R3 SL frame is listed at ~$5.5K.

R3 (_NOT_ SL) with Ultegra ~ $6K.

I would buy it with Blah's money!

Yeh - the R3 goes for about $8k exactly with Dura Ace and Easton
wheels (11k with the insanely priced Zipp wheelset). I was looking
quite seriously at a 7 thousand dollar BMC (with my missus' blessing)
before the cheque came onto the scene, so this is actually a saving...
if you look at it from a very acute angle, squinting quite hard. I'm
about 85kg myself and thought the soloist would be the way to go as it
looks quite beefy and the R3's seat stays look about as thin as they
can come. The warranty and the last two P-Roubaix have made the R3
look the goods.
Whatever, I'm not going to need a bike for a few months anyway. If I
see somthing nice while away I'll get it but I'm prepared to wait
until I get to Qatar to really get to it.

Qatar awaits your arrival ... 34C at 9.15am. Oooo that's a tad toasty.

On 2007-04-18, Donga (aka Bruce)
was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea:
